The Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI) Diwa Ng Kalayaan (Spirit of Independence) 2010 will be selected and crowned Sunday, April 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Diwa ng Kalayaan (Spirit of Independence) Selection and Coronation Pageant and Gala presented as part of the 112th Philippine Independence anniversary commemoration.

The pageant is slated at the Imperial Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Meadowlands Hotel & Exhibition Center at Two Harmon Plaza, Secaucus, New Jersey  07094-2802. 

The Diwa ng Kalayaan (Spirit of Independence) is the most coveted beauty, brains and talent title among young ladies ages 16 to 22 of Filipino descent in the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut-Philadelphia area. 

The top prize for Diwa ng Kalayaan (Spirit of Independence) is a round trip airline ticket to the Philippines (with land arrangements) as Ambassador of Goodwill representing the PIDCI and the Filipino and Filipino-American community of the New York region and as a participant in the Philippine Tourism Directors Tour to the Philippines.
