1Up.com reported that Sony is preparing to unveil its latest PlayStation Portable (PSP) at the popular E3 Video Game Expo in June which will be held in Los Angeles California. Plan to launch it in Japan in September, followed by a U.S. launch in October or November.
While the potential name for the new unit hasn't been confirmed, there are indications that it might be called PSP Go. The name is probably derived from the company's recent usage of Go! in the European PSP peripherals such as Go!View and Go!Cam.
According to the report from 1Up.com website, the new PSP will most likely borrow numerous design features from their Mylo 2 hand held Internet device. It also mentioned that the new PSP will offer two configurations: one with 8GB of Internal memory and the other with 16GB. There will be a memory card expansion slot.
"Since the UMD is going away, Sony will have over 100 classic and new PSP titles available for download at launch (Gran Turismo Mobile is said to be one of the premier launch titles)," 1Up.com reported.
