GE To Introduce Smart Grid Technology In The Philippines

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia Jr. welcomed General Electric's plan to introduce smart grid technology in the Philipppines, saying this would not only bring down electric costs but would also help make the country more attractive for investments.

GE Philippines Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel de Dios confirmed GE's plan during a courtesy call by government and private sector representatives taking part in a study tour in the United States.

“I commend GE and Meralco executives as well as our officials from the Energy Regulatory Commission for introducing the smart grid technology in the Philippines which I hope will lower the cost of electricity,” said Ambassador Cuisia. “With the Smart Grid technology in place, the competitiveness of the Philippines as an investment-site-of-choice will be further enhanced.”

Jersey City Mayor To Meet Filipino Social EntrepreneurJERSEY CITY, NJ – Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy welcomes Illac Diaz, founder of MyShelter Foundation and Isang Litrong Liwanag (1 Liter of Light) during the Filipino flag raising ceremony at 3:30 pm on Friday, June 1, 2012 in City Hall, 280 Grove Street.

Scheduled to attend the flag raising ceremony are Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, Consul General Mario Lopez de Leon, Jr., Illac Diaz, elected officials, and members of PAFCOM.  The event is open to the public and is sponsored by the Philippine-American Friendship Day Parade & Festival Committee (PAFCOM).    

Illac Diaz is dubbed as a social entrepreneur and renowned philanthropist whose work empowers communities and provides a significant global impact and influence.  On Friday, June 1, 2012 at 9:00am at Hudson Catholic, he will be speaking regarding his latest innovation and project, Isang Litrong Liwanag (1 Liter of Light).
