NEW YORK— Two explosions marred the annual Boston Marathon near the finish line on Monday afternoon leaving at least three people dead including an eight-year-old-boy and more than 130 others injured. According to the Philippine Embassy, there are so far no Filipinos among the reported casualties. In a statement, the Embassy said the Philippine Consulate General in New York is coordinating with authorities in Boston and the Filipino-American Community to make sure that all Filipinos who were in the area at the time of the incident are all safe and accounted for.
Consul General Mario de Leon said that as of 8:30 p.m. EST, April 15, the Consulate General still has not received any report of any Filipino casualties among based on initial information from authorities and leaders of the Filipino-American Community.
“The Philippine Consulate General in New York responded immediately after the explosions and contacted authorities, hospitals and our kababayans in Boston to determine if there were Filipinos among the two fatalities and the close to 100 who were reported injured,” Consul General De Leon said.

HOUSTON, Texas -- A week after Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez knocked out Manny Paquiao in a shocking, non-title bout loss, FilAm Nonito "Filipino Flash" Donaire, 30, returned the favor to his opponent, Mexican fighter Jorge Arce, 33, (61-7-2, 46 KOs), at the Toyota Center on December 15. He sent Arce reeling to the canvas in the third round at 2:59 after unleashing a left hook to Arce's chin.
Arce had his mouthpiece out when the referee began counting and the fight was called off. Toyota Cente, which was booming with cheers of "Mexico, Mexico" when Arce entered the ring, suddenly quieted down when Arce went crashing to the canvas in the second round. He beat the count and even dared Donaire to get him.

Last year's World Rally Championship runner-up, Mikko Hirvonen, was the class of the field on the 2010 Monte Carlo Rally, winning the event in a new Ford Fiesta S2000 after leading from start to finish on its competitive debut.
Hirvonen and co-driver Jarmo Lehtinen mastered treacherous winter conditions in the mountains of southern France to reach the Monaco harbour finish in the early hours of Saturday morning with a winning margin of 1min 51.4sec.

CHICAGO (FAXX/jGLi) -- Filipino American Erik Spoelstra, the most eligible and winningest coach in the current NBA season, had confirmed 24-year-old Nikki Sapp, a Miami native and a former Heat dancer, has been a companion but would not confirm if he found a girlfriend.
The 42-year-old coach of the defending champion Miami Heat, which has yet to snap its 23-game wining streak since Feb. 1, could only say Ms. Sapp may have accompanied him “to our charity fundraiser, but other than that he is not commenting.”
