Jersey City St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 15

JERSEY CITY (March 14) — Mayor Jeremiah T. Healy and members of the Municipal Council, in conjunction with the Department of Health and Human Service, Division of Cultural Affairs, are hosting the 2009 Jersey City St. Patrick’s Day Parade from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Lincoln Park.  They will proceed to a viewing stand in Journal Square.

Brother Patrick King, F.S.C. is 2009 Grand Marshall of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  He will be joined in the parade by Irishman and woman of the year: W. Nevins McCann and Bridget Kelly Koch and other Irish Jersey City Mayoral awardees.

“St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by the Irish and the Irish at Heart,” Mayor Healy said. “I want to welcome all of Jersey City to join me on Sunday, March 15th as we celebrate the rich Irish heritage and culture in Jersey City.”

The parade participants step off at 12;30 P.M. from Kennedy Boulevard across from the entrance to Lincoln Park and proceed north to Journal Square. A Mass is scheduled at Saint Aedan’s at 10:00 a.m. sponsored by the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick.
