Last year's World Rally Championship runner-up, Mikko Hirvonen, was the class of the field on the 2010 Monte Carlo Rally, winning the event in a new Ford Fiesta S2000 after leading from start to finish on its competitive debut. Hirvonen and co-driver Jarmo Lehtinen mastered treacherous winter conditions in the mountains of southern France to reach the Monaco harbour finish in the early hours of Saturday morning with a winning margin of 1min 51.4sec.

Senate asks to look into bitter rivalry among RP's top sports officials

MANILA (July 17) -- Opposition Sen. Chiz Escudero asked the Senate on July 15 to look into bitter rivalry among the country’s top sports officials which could doom the chances of the country’s athletes in the 25th Southeast Asian Games in Laos this December. “Our athletes have become unwilling spectators to this sad spectacle. It is now time to act on the issues that have prejudiced the country’s preparations for the Laos Games,” the 39-year old lawmaker said.

NEW YORK (June 18) -- In an event considered as "The Academy Awards of Boxing", Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao received another feat from the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) on Friday June 12 during BWAA's 84th Annual Award Dinner. For the second time in his boxing career, he was honored with the BWAA's Edward J. Neil "Fighter of the Year Award for 2008" at the Capitale at 130 Bowery in Manhattan. Pacquiao was also bestowed with the Neil award in 2006.
