In our spiritual journey, we must have our own personal relationship, encounter, and experience with the Lord. I cannot live off my parents’ experience, my pastor’s experience, or my friend’s experience with the Lord; I need my own personal experience with the Lord.
Saul has given David consent to fight Goliath, but we see that Saul wanted to give David his armor.
1 Samuel 38-40 tells us: “Then Saul gave David his own armor – a bronze helmet and a coat of mail. David put it on, strapped the sword over it, and took a step or two to see what it was like, for he had never worn such things before.” David was not trained in Saul’s armor, so how could he fight in something that was not his own? How many people today want someone else to fight their spiritual battles, because we have not learned how to fight our own battles?
David said to Saul, “I can’t go in these,” he protested. I’m not used to them.” So David took them off again. He picked up five smooth stones from a stream and put them into his shepherd’s bag. Then, armed only with his shepherd’s staff and sling, he started out across the valley to fight the giant.
God has given us everything we need for our spiritual journey. We can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us, empowers us, and equips us for everything that will come into our lives!
Keep developing your relationship with the Lord, and allow Him to give you what you need to defeat every giant that comes against you!
