When the harvest is ripe and ready, it must be harvested! There is no waiting or procrastination when it comes to harvesting! In the spiritual sense, we must be prepared to harvest souls when they are ready. When we look at our world today, we must be prepared to lead people to Jesus Christ, because Jesus is coming again!

The prophet Joel said, “Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread the grapes, for the winepress is full. The storage vats are overflowing with the wickedness of these people. Thousands upon thousands are waiting in the valley of decision. There, the day of the Lord will soon arrive.” Joel 3:13-14

  • When the harvest is ripe, we need to swing the sickle.” We cannot harvest the crop early, and we cannot wait too long, or the crop will rot. We must swing the sickle when the harvest is ready. That means we need to be with people when they are prepared to come to Jesus. That means we need to develop relationships with people who are not followers of Jesus. We cannot wait for a Sunday church service, but we must be ready to swing the sickle when they are ready!
  • The world is lost, wicked, and sinful, and they need to know that there is an answer – Jesus! People do not want religion, but they desire a genuine relationship! They need to know Jesus, and we may be the only Jesus that they see. They need to see Jesus in real life! What kind of Jesus are we to them?
  • The world is in the Valley of Decision! Every single person needs to make a personal decision about what they are going to do with Jesus. Jesus is coming – and we must be ready to lead people to Jesus daily!

We need to pray, develop relationships with people who need Jesus, and be ready to lead them to a decision to follow Jesus!

Are you ready for Jesus to come? And are we helping others to be prepared for Jesus’ coming?
