How many of us battle with fear, anxiety, and stress in our daily journey of life? If we are honest, do we deal with these feelings and emotions regularly?
What do we, as followers, do with these feelings when they take over our lives?
Paul wrote to this younger pastor named Timothy and reminded him and us today:
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control!” 2 Timothy 1:7
As followers of Jesus, when we say yes to Him, He gives us the Holy Spirit to empower, edify, and equip us for life’s journey. The Holy Spirit is the Gift of God that He gives to every believer when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior.
God did not give us a spirit of fear! We need to allow the Holy Spirit to empower us not to be fearful, anxious and stressed today.
Why?
- Because the Holy Spirit gives us His power to empower us to live in the victory of Christ! I cannot change things in my own strength, but I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
- Because the Holy Spirit gives me His love, I can love others and myself. God’s Word tells us: “Perfect love casts out all fear!”
- Because the Holy Spirit gives me self-control because I am giving Him control in my mind, heart, and spirit! Too often, we want self-control to control the situations of life, but let us have Spirit-Control in our lives today!
Today, I cast all my cares and anxiety on you! And let the Holy Spirit empower me to walk in His strength!
