ASEAN-Korea Centre To Host Investment Seminar; Philippine Government Official To Deliver Keynote Presentation

SEOUL, KOREA — ASEAN-Korea Centre is holding an Investment Seminar on the Philippines on 16 May 2012 at the Plaza Hotel in Seoul, Korea, in cooperation with the Department of Trade & Industry of the Philippines and the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Seoul.

In this seminar, speakers will share investment climate and opportunities in the Philippines as well as priority public projects requiring foreign investments that the Philippine government focuses on.

Mr. Cristino L. PANLILIO, Undersecretary of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of the Philippines will deliver a keynote presentation entitled “Investment Climate and Business Environment in the Philippines” which will be followed by a presentation entitled “Addressing Mega Manila’s Water Security” by Mr. Ramon B. Alikpala, Chairman of Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS). Also, Ms. Sherry Ann N. Autstia, Director of Public-Private Partnership Center and Ms. Dolora N. Nepomuceno, Assistant General Manager of Laguna Lake Development Authority will present Philippine PPP program and Laguna Bay region development projects, respectively. Lastly, Mr. Bong Joo CHOI, General Manager of Overseas Project Management Department, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), will share his 7 year business experience in the Philippines.

In the afternoon, one-on-one individual meetings will be held between the Philippine delegation and Korean business people to discuss investment opportunities in the Philippines.

Following the Investment Seminar, the ASEAN-Korea Centre plans to dispatch from 4-6 June 2012, an investment mission to the Philippines, in the fields of electronics and IT, etc as a follow-up to further explore investment opportunities in the Philippines. The Korean investment mission aims to further stimulate bilateral economic cooperation, including enhancement of investments between Korea and the Philippines.
