In Mark 16: 15-18, we see the last words He spoke to His followers, giving us our purpose for our life’s journey.
Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” That is the purpose that God created us to fulfill. To worship God and to witness to people all that God has done in our lives.
Jesus told His followers that everyone has a choice about following Jesus on life’s journey. In verse 16, “Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.”
When Jesus uses the word believe, it is more than just having a head knowledge of Jesus; it is believing, receiving, and allowing Jesus to change our very purpose for living. Believing will lead to action in our lives. Jesus told His followers, “Anyone who believes and is baptized… .” Water Baptism is an outward testimony of what Jesus has done on the inside of you. Water Baptism is telling people that you are a follower of Jesus. Following Jesus is not just a Sunday thing but a life thing.
Too many church people have a Sunday life, and then they go back to their other life. The Lord told His followers that they need to choose if they are really going to take this journey of following Jesus that changes their private and public life!
Lord, help me to follow you in all areas of my life! Help me believe and live like I am a follower of Jesus!
