NEW YORK — White House Executive Chef Cris Comerford and Filipino American civic leader Loida Nicolas Lewis will lead an international delegation of Filipina women leaders and 2014 inductees to the Global FWN100 Honor Roll to the 11th Filipina Leadership Global Summit on Oct. 5-8, organized by the Filipina Women Network (FWN). Both Cromerford and Lewis including other Filipina women from 14 countries were selected by FWN, a San Francisco based non-profit professional association of women of Philippine ancestry committed to improving the careers and the status of Filipina women worldwide. The event will be held at the Makati-Shangrila in Makati City in the Philippines.
This is the first time in the FWN’s 11 year-history of convening the Annual Filipina Leadership Global Summit outside of the United States. This year’s theme is “Disrupt: Be Proud. Be Loud. Leave No Doubt.” Secretary Imelda M. Nicolas of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) with the Office of the President of the Philippines is the Co-Convenor of the event.
In a statement, FWN said the awardees and delegates attending represent 16 economic sectors and are coming from Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Denmark, France, Jordan, China, Poland, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, the United States of America and a distinguished group from the Philippines. The final list will be officially announced at the Gala Awards Dinner at the Filipina Summit as they are inducted to the Global FWN100™ Honor Roll.
“I am so honored to lead my global Filipina sisters on such an important journey to the Philippines, our home country. I am excited to visit the Malacañang Palace, the official residence of the President of the Philippines. I have never been to Malacañang and hope to meet my fellow executive chef and exchange tips on preparing healthy meals for the First Family of the Philippines,” said Comerford. who has been the White House Executive Chef since 2005 when former First Lady Laura Bush appointed her. She is the first woman to be selected for the post, and also the first of Asian descent.
Meanwhile, philanthropist Loida Nicolas Lewis said: “The global summit’s theme “Disrupt: Be Proud. Be Loud. Leave No Doubt.” indeed captures the Filipina women in diaspora. I am always amazed at the ‘breaking-the-glass-ceiling’ stories and the social coherence within the Filipina diaspora as I travel the world. It is important that we maintain our business, family and political ties to our homeland and bring back the accomplishments we’ve made in our adopted countries.”

The summit will convene sessions and learning journeys that will reflect on the changes that sparked transformations in the lives of global Filipinas in the last 10 years, and the disruptive strategies and unexpected solutions that influenced careers and businesses.”
“The Summit will serve as a unique platform for the synergistic interaction between today’s most influential global Filipina women and the Philippines’ Filipina leaders. We, at the Commission, have always upheld the importance and significant contributions of Filipina women, wherever they may be — all over the world and in the Motherland,” Secretary Nicolas said.
Session highlights include “Make Me A Filipina Billionaire” and “Make Me A Filipina CEO”, the popular “Pinay Speed Femtoring” with selected local 100 young Filipina professionals and graduate students who will meet and learn from the Global FWN100™ awardees, “Smart.Young.Unintimidated” – a panel of emerging leaders who will one day rule the world, “Learning Journeys to Convergys Corporation, the largest BPO organization in the Philippines and Elle Intimates, a leading manufacturer and exporter of women undergarments to Europe and the U.S., “Speaker Forum: Corporate Men Sharing Power: Decision Making in the Leadership Chair” and public and private business partnership meetings.
The global summit will also feature the Global FWN100™ Gala Awards Ceremony, the launch of FWN’s Filipina Global Leadership book, and the Salo Salo Soirée @ the Black Sheep restaurant.
The Most Influential Filipina Women in the World Award™ recognizes Filipina women who are influencing the face of leadership in the global workplace, having reached status for outstanding work in their respective fields and are recognized for their leadership, achievement and contributions to society, femtorship and legacy. The awardees are asked to femtor a young Pinay through the FEMtorship initiative and bring her to the Filipina Summit.
