I am thankful that God’s Word gives us the wisdom to be parents and raise our children. We must realize that God has entrusted our children to care in all areas of life. We are to lead them physically, emotionally, financially, and spiritually!
Proverbs 22:6 says, “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.”
As parents, grandparents, and spiritual parents, we are responsible for directing our children to follow Jesus. But we cannot direct our children if we are not walking in a spiritual direction. We must lead them on the path that we are living ourselves. If you want your children to follow Jesus, we must lead them to follow Jesus!
We must do more than teach them about Jesus; we must show them how to be followers of Jesus. Being a follower of Jesus is not just taught; it is also engrained in the way that we live our lives. Can our children and grandchildren see Jesus in our lives?
This does not mean that they may be prodigals or rebels for a season. When that happens, we must continue leading them on the right path. Then, we pray and pray and pray for them to return to the Lord!
Our most important ministry is to the family God has entrusted to us. Lord, help me direct my family to be followers of Jesus!
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!” Don’t give up, but start leading your family to Jesus!
