The Council of Young Filipinx Americans in Medicine (CYFAM) is a national organization that empowers young Filipinx American physicians and trainees.CYFAM’s mission is to promote leadership development, reinforce the educational pipeline, and address structural inequities in health through advocacy, scholarship, and community partnership.
Since 2019, CYFAM has impacted over 595 professionals and trainees nationwide, reaching over 500k Filipinx Americans with its public health initiatives. Despite Filipinx Americans comprising 20% of the Asian population in the U.S., they represent only 4% of Asian American medical school applicants and physicians. CYFAM aims to correct this underrepresentation and cultivate leaders to tackle health challenges in the Filipinx American community.
