Event Details

The recent spate of unprovoked physical assaults and hate-filled verbal attacks on elderly Asians, including Filipino Americans, has put our communities on edge amid the already fearsome pandemic. While racism against Asian Americans is nothing new, as history has recorded — our Filipino manongs in the early to mid-1900s know this only too well — the current manifestation of racist hate merits a full-scale response from Filipino American, Asian, and allied non-AAPI groups. The mainstream media has also lent its support by exposing the incidents. So far, hardly any of the perpetrators have been identified or arrested.

As Filipino Americans, what can we do about this? How can we protect ourselves and our families? What protection should we expect from the law? And more importantly, how can we work in solidarity with other groups to prevent such racist acts from multiplying?

Our webinar probes this dangerous and divisive trend as well as consider realistic solutions that our community can utilize.
