NEW YORK – The long wait is over. After more than a year, Nanding Mendez, president of Fiesta in America, has confirmed to Philippine Daily Mirror that the People’s Ball returns and will revive a beloved tradition. The event will be held on Sunday, August 22, 6 p.m. at the Marriott Newark International Airport, New Jersey.
Traditionally, the People’s Ball is a glittering prelude to the Fiesta in America Expo, the biggest Filipino American cultural showcase and business networking event on the East Coast. Currently, plans for the return of the usual two-day Expo are being firmed up.
The People’s Ball brings together the movers and shakers of the Fil-Am communities on the East Coast as a platform to celebrate the Filipino tradition of festive and welcoming hospitality in America. It is also an opportunity to thank Fiesta In America’s corporate and individual supporters and several tri-state leaders. They all joined Fiesta in America to strengthen the enduring bonds that hold the Filipino American community together despite the challenges.

In keeping with the current global health crisis, the dinner gala will honor Empower Awardees from various professions, businesses, humanities, and social services. It will be highlighted by Fil-Am health care professionals who put their lives at risk during the pandemic.
According to Mendez, guests will enjoy ballroom dancing, a sumptuous dinner, business and public service networking, and special musical performances as part of the premier celebration.
Mendez encourages everyone to reserve a corporate table now for corporate/organization or preferred seats. General admission is $100; premium tickets at $150. A donation of any amount is acceptable if you are unable to attend. For further information, please call (212) 682-6610 or send an email to info@fiestainamerica.com.
