Get a grip, strengthen your walk, and keep moving forward

If you are on the journey of following Jesus, there will be times when you get discouraged, tired, and feel like quitting and giving up. How many times do we feel that we cannot take another step and want to stop the journey? Going on a journey is difficult at times, but we cannot give up on the journey of following Jesus.

Hebrews 12: 12-13 says, “So take a new grip with your tired hands, and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.”

• We need to get a new grip on following Jesus. This journey is not one that is easy, and we constantly have to get a new grip on the grace and mercy of Jesus. Hold on to Jesus and the Word and realize that we are not holding on to Jesus, but Jesus is holding on to us! If you let go, Jesus is there to hold you, and then reach out to Him and hold on to Him!
• We need to strengthen our weak knees. The older I get, the more my knees are hurting because of all the running and sports I did growing up. I may not be able to run like I used to, but now I can go out and walk and spend time with the Lord. I may not be able to do what I used to do when I was younger, but I still get out and do the exercises that I need to strengthen my knees and my journey. We must keep pressing on in the journey of following Jesus, no matter our age.
• Plan on where you are going on the journey! As followers of Jesus, every one of us must plan for the day when we will meet Jesus! Think about what that meeting is going to be like. As a follower of Jesus, I am not just going to heaven, but me, my daughter, my parents, and the people of the Bible. But I am going to meet Jesus! Today, I continue to plan and prepare for that journey home! That is what motivates me to be strong and faithful as long as I live on this earth!
