NEW YORK – Kapuso stars Carla Abellana and Solenn Heussaff of GMA Pinoy TV visited the US and Canada for a promotional tour recently.
Abellana headlined ‘Fiesta Ko Sa Florida’, the first ever Filipino event in Ocala City organized by One Philippines and the Filipino American Association Inc., and ‘Fiesta Ko Sa Texas’ which was held at the Bayou City Event Center.
Abellana was warmly welcomed by Kapuso abroad as soon as she arrived at the airport. During the back-to-back events, Carla happily participated in the games and serenaded the Kapuso abroad. The crowd also witnessed a pleasant surprise when a video greeting of Carla’s fellow Kapuso star and boyfriend Tom Rodriguez was played. The actress was even more shocked when Tom lovingly dedicated a song to her on the same video which drove the audience crazy in kilig.
“I have to admit that Florida’s welcome was so warm I didn’t feel nervous at all to perform alone (again). Thank you, Ocala!,” the Kapuso star shared on her Instagram page.
Abellana, who will topbill the upcoming GMA drama series Pamilya Roces, further expressed her gratitude for the Pinoys’ support in both of her US shows. “Sobrang saya rin sa Houston, Texas! Nawala jetlag ko at nabuhayan ako ng loob! So touched by all our Kapuso abroad who watched the GMA shows I’m part of and are so supportive of my career.”

In another side of North America, Solenn’s tri-city tour in Canada was a great success as thousands of excited Filipinos finally got a chance to meet and interact with her.
Pinoys of all ages trooped to GMA Pinoy TV’s first sponsored event in Calgary for the ‘Wika at Kulturang Pinoy Festival’. Organized by the Pinoy Times Entertainment, the audience enjoyed the show so much that they felt it was more like Solenn’s concert rather than just a special appearance.
Another first GMA Pinoy TV-sponsored event was in Winnipeg where Solenn joined ‘Food Trip: A Taste of Home, Year 3!’ by LU Communications last September 1. On top of Solenn’s fun performances, the Kapuso abroad loved her Balut Challenge where she invited a non-Filipino onstage to eat balut with her.
The following day, Solenn concluded her Canada tour in the most fashionable manner where she effortlessly slew the runway at Mario Subeldia’s fashion show in Vancouver. The event dubbed ‘Taiwan Fest Fete with the Philippines 2018’ is organized by the United Filipino Canadian Associations of British Columbia (UFCABC).
A signature move for GMA artists who perform abroad, Pinoys from all three events definitely did not miss the free meet-and-greet portion with the Kapuso ‘It Girl’. Everyone was pleased to discover how easy-going and humble Solenn is when she gamely took wacky photos with the Kapuso abroad.
Solenn, on the other hand, also shared how much she enjoyed the string of events with Pinoys in Canada. “I had so much fun in Calgary, Winnipeg, and Vancouver! Hope you guys enjoyed as much as I did!”
