God is not looking for ability but availability; am I available to allow the Lord to use me today?

God calls us, but how often do we not respond to what He wants us to do? We want God’s blessing in our lives. But we are unwilling to do what He knows is best for us.

In Exodus 3 and 4, God calls Moses to deliver the people of Israel, but he debates, discusses, and makes excuses for not doing what God has called him.

The Lord shows Moses His power so he can know that God is with him. But Moses still made excuses for why he could not obey God.

In Exodus 3: 10-12; we see Moses making excuses because I am not an outward person, a good talker, a social person, I stutter and cannot do what you are asking me to do.

“But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though You have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord?” “NOW GO! I WILL BE WITH YOU AS YOU SPEAK, AND I WILL INSTRUCT YOU ON WHAT TO SAY.”

  • We may have excuses for not obeying God, but those excuses disobey God’s Will for our lives. How can we live God’s best when we are unwilling to do what He has called us to do? If God calls us to do something, He will give us everything we need to fulfill the call.
  • We focus on what we cannot do, but God focuses on what He can do through us. God is not looking for ability but availability. Am I available to allow the Lord to use me today?
  • God wants us to stop focusing on our lack, weaknesses, and issues and begin to focus on how great our God is. God tells us, just like Moses, “Go NOW!” Stop the excuses delaying and start obeying what God has called you to do. Start obeying! Just do what God has called you to do.
  • Why? “Because I will be with You! I will lead you and guide you! I will empower you to do what I have asked you to do. God’s Word tells us – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.”

Lord, no more excuses! Let me obey you and do all You have called me to do!
