In Hebrews 13, we read the concluding words that the Lord wants to remember on the journey forward with Jesus.
Read these words from Hebrews 13: 5-6; “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For He has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you. So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will not have to fear. What can mere people do to me?”
How many of us need to remember this on our journey of life?
- Do not love money (material things, accumulation of possessions). Remember, when you are on a journey, you cannot take everything with you. But if we are honest, we all love the comfort and pleasure that we can get from money. But we need to remember that we are not going to be able to take all of our stuff on a journey. So, we must prioritize what is really important for our spiritual journey of following Jesus.
- Learn to be satisfied or content with what the Lord has given to us. Paul said: “I have learned the secret of being content in every situation.” When you are content in Jesus, and realize that He is the One that provides everything we need for our journey. We can stop striving, stop fighting for what we think we need, and just learn to trust that God will give us everything we need.
- Remember that God will never fail us or abandon us. Many people and things in life will fail us, abandon us, and desert us on the journey. We must remember that God will never fail or abandon us. Our identity, our value, and our worth are in Christ alone!
- Remember that God is our Helper in every area of the journey. If He is the One that helps me through the journey, I do not have fear, worry, or be anxious about the things of life! “He is my refuge and strength, a very present help in the time of need.”
Thank you for this reminder today!
