In Genesis 39, we have been looking at Joseph. The boss’s wife is seducing him. He is responding, resisting, and staying away from her. In verses 11-18, she comes up with a lie to get back at Joseph. She cries out that David tried to rape her. It was all a lie.

When the master came home, his wife told him the lie. How did he respond?

Genesis 39: 19-21: “As soon as his master heard the words that his wife spoke to him, “This is the way your servant treated me,” his anger was kindled. And the master took him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined, and he was in prison.” How would we handle this situation? What would be our response?

Verse 21 shows Joseph’s response: “But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”

If you are a follower of Jesus, God is with you. No matter what I face, I must realize that God is working. God is with me! God is working out His plan in my life. I may not understand it now, and I may not like it now, but I can trust that He is working out His will in my life!

Help me realize this in every situation that I face today!
