In Numbers 14: 8-9, we read about Joshua’s conversation with the people to encourage them to keep walking by faith and that God is bigger than the enemy.
“And if the Lord is pleased with us, He will bring us safely into that land and give it to us. It is a good land, rich flowing with milk and honey. Do not rebel against the Lord, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us. They have no protection, but the Lord is with us. Don’t be afraid of them.”
This is the choice that we must make in our culture today. Sadly, too many of God’s people are like the children in the wilderness. We are fearful, anxious, and worried about things that are out of our control.
The only thing I can control is me! But are my choices going to be?
- I must please the Lord! If I want God’s favor and blessing over my life, then I need to obey what He tells me to do in His Word. “Obedience is better than sacrifice. If I live in willful disobedience, then I do not have the assurance of His presence, peace, power, and provision in my life.
- I must not rebel against the Lord! How many of us want to do what we want to do and then wonder why we are not living in victory? God’s Word tells us: “Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.” We may think rebellion is my right and no big deal, but God’s Word tells us that we will not like the results of our choice to rebel against God.
- I do not need to fear circumstances, people, or the future if God is on my side. This world has no control over the child of God unless I give it control. It is helpless and has no protection from God. Why am I fearful when God is on my side?
- I have the protection of the Lord because the Lord is with me! I do not need to be fearful, but I can walk by faith because: “If God be for me, who can be against me.”
Today, I CHOOSE to rejoice because I know that He began good work in me and will bring it to the day of completion in Christ Jesus!
