In Matthew 27, we see the journey that Jesus would take to the Cross for you and me. We see that one of His disciples, Judas, would sell out Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. WE see that Jesus is arrested and taken to stand before Pilate and that the people wanted Jesus crucified, and Pilate orders Jesus to be flogged and crucified for you and me. We see the soldiers mocking Jesus publicly, and then they led Him to be crucified, for you and me.
Jesus is nailed to the Cross, and we see the human side of Jesus and what He endured for you and me. In Matthew 27, 45-46, we read, “At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. AT about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani? Which means “My God, My God, why have you abandoned me?”
How many of us have ever felt abandoned by God? We see that Jesus Himself felt that way, even as He died on the Cross for the sins of others. The Perfect Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, which includes you and me.
God will never abandon us, just like He did not abandon His Own Son. But we can feel all these emotions; we need to know that “He will never forsake us or leave us.”
Today, no matter what you are feeling, God loves us, God cares for us, and God will make a way for us through the most challenging situations of life!
Jesus died for you and me! What a miracle of God’s amazing love for you and me!
