How many of us on this journey of life have thought? Why is God so slow in answering my prayers? Why is God not working faster? We forget that God’s plan and our plan are totally different. We live and want things immediately! When we are going through things, we want them over right now! But God works even when we do not see Him or anything happening.
In 2 Peter 3: 8-9, we read – “But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. Some people think that The Lord isn’t slow about His promise, as soe is being patient for YOUR SAKE. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
God is patient with us! He is trying to conform us to be like Jesus so that we will grow in following Him. We want comfort, but God wants to build in us the character of Jesus. We want happiness in life, but God desires to give us the joy of the Lord. We want relief, but God wants repentance. God is patient with us and will complete the work that He has started in us.
Read the Bible, and we see how God worked in people’s lives: Joseph was in prison for 13 years, Noah built an ark for 120 years, and Moses was in the wilderness for 40 years. We can see that God was working and preparing them for something better.
Do not forget this the next time you are going through a testing season and wondering where God is. God is with you and is working out His plan in your life. Be patient and keep trusting Him because He promises this in Romans 8:28: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”
I need to realize that God knows what I need to grow in my journey of following Jesus and that it is for my good and His glory!
So keep walking forward in Jesus!
