Every one of us will face life’s journey, times of being in difficult places, and times when we are tempted to sin, do wrong, and do what we want instead of what God wants us to do.
Jesus was tempted, and we will face times of temptation. But in Luke 4: 1-12, we see that Jesus was tempted three times, and He was able to say NO to temptation because He knew God, and He knew God’s Word!
When it comes to defeating temptation and making Godly choices, we need to KNOW GOD AND KNOW GOD’S WORD! When Jesus was battling temptation, He responded each time.
In verse 4 – “But Jesus said, “NO! The Scriptures say….”
In verse 8 – “The Scriptures say, “You must worship the Lord your God and serve Him.”
In verse 12 – “The Scriptures also say, “You must not test the Lord your God.”
Lord, help me to realize when I face a temptation that, I can only defeat temptation by KNOWING GOD and KNOWING GOD’S WORD!
When you pray, remember the Lord’s Prayer. In that prayer, Jesus teaches us to pray….”Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”
Today, make the decision to KNOW GOD and KNOW GOD’S WORD, and you will defeat temptation before temptation defeats you!
