Lord, anoint me, fill me, empower me today with the presence of the Holy Spirit

The power of the anointing of God’s presence in a person’s life makes all the difference. God wants to anoint every follower of Jesus with His presence. But we must invite His presence into our lives.

In 1 Samuel 16, we see that the Lord sent Samuel the priest to Jesse’s house to anoint the future king of Israel. Jesse brings all of his sons in except David. Samuel looks over all the sons, but they are not the ones God wants to be anointed as king. Samuel asks Jesse if he has any more sons. Jesse replies, “My son David is out taking care of the sheep.” Samuel says, “Go get him.”

1 Samuel 16: 12-13; “So he sent for him and had David brought in. He was glowing with health and fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.” So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David.”

We need the anointing, the fullness of the Holy Spirit, in our lives today. We can perform religious rituals and do some good works, but we need His presence to do all God has appointed us to do.

Paul said: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Lord, anoint me, fill me, empower me today with the presence of the Holy Spirit!
