What is required of me as a follower of Jesus? How does Jesus change my life, my goals, my ambitions, and my purpose for life? Does Jesus change our lives?
The Sermon on the Mount provides us with insights into the internal changes that God brings about in our daily lives. In Matthew 5:8: “God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.”
A pure heart? Can I have a pure heart? How does my heart become pure? There is nothing that we can do that will produce a heart that is pure, clean, and right with God. In fact, the Bible tells us that the “heart is wickedly deceitful.” So we want to think that our hearts are pure, because of going to church, doing good works, not sinning too much, singing some worship songs, and going to church activities. But none of those things of themselves makes our hearts pure.
The only One who can make our hearts pure is Jesus! He takes our hearts of stone and gives us a heart filled with His presence! I must accept Christ into my heart, and begin to read the Word, know the Word, and live the Word consistently!
When I allow Jesus to live in my life, He makes me more like Himself. Today, allow Jesus to live in all the areas of your life and see how He will change your hearts!
Lord, change my heart today! “Bless me with a pure heart, so that I will see You!”
