The story of David and Bathsheba continues when Uriah, her husband, does not go home and sleep with her. So King David continues to scheme to cover up his sin.

David wrote a letter now to the commander of the army, and David plotted the murder of Uriah, the husband. 2 Samuel 11: 15-17: “The letter instructed Joab, “Station Uriah on the front lines where the battle is fiercest. Then pull back so that Uriah will be killed.” So Joab assigned Uriah a spot close to the city wall where he knew the enemy’s strongest men were fighting. And when the enemy soldiers came out of the city to fight, Uriah the Hittite was killed along with several other Israelite soldiers.”

Think about how David, the man of God, was anointed to be King by the Lord and how he could go from a killer of a giant enemy to a killer of an innocent man. How could he go from a man of prayer, praise, and worship to a man of adultery and murder?

It is easy to turn our hearts away from the Lord. We must never forget that our “Decisions Determine our Direction, and our Direction Determines our Destiny.” How did King David end up in this position? Because of a moment of weakness, he disobeyed God. Instead of running from the temptation with Bathsheba, he gave in, and his decision led him toward disobedience to God!

Today, Lord, empower me to make Godly decisions that will determine the right direction for my life!
