The Book of Acts is the action of the early church, and we need to realize that if we want spiritual action in our lives and church today, it is an outflow of the Holy Spirit working in and through us to “Reach the City and Touch the World for Jesus.”
In Acts 2:1-4, we see that the people traveled to follow Jesus, waited, and were filled with the Holy Spirit.
In Acts 2:5-8, “At that time, there were devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem. When they heard the loud noise from the upper room, everyone came running, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers. They were completely amazed. “How can this be?” they exclaimed, “These people are from Galilee, and yet we hear them speaking in our own language.”
Acts 2:11-12; “…And we all hear these people speaking in our languages about the WONDERFUL THINGS GOD HAS DONE.” They stood there, amazed and perplexed. “What can this mean? They asked each other.”
What was the purpose of the filling of the Holy Spirit? “So that you would be my witnesses.” How many people in Jerusalem that day saw and heard in their own language about all the wonderful things that God has done?
We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit, so that we will be able to share about Jesus, and not about ourselves, our religious beliefs, our rituals, our church, our opinions, but to lift the name of Jesus!
The people in Jerusalem heard them speak in their languages. If you do not understand a language, how can you communicate with people? So the Holy Spirit filled them with supernatural languages that would glorify God and point people to Jesus!
We need the filling of the Holy Spirit in our lives, so that we can communicate to people about Jesus! Lord, fill us to overflowing that we lift up the Name of Jesus everywhere we go!
People need to see and hear the difference that Jesus makes in our daily lives! Lord, fill me today with Your Presence, Your Peace, and Your Power!
