Why do we need the filling of the Holy Spirit? Because without the Spirit, we are weak, timid, afraid, and insecure in our relationship with Jesus.
In John 18, Judas betrays Jesus, and Peter denies Jesus. Remember, they were with Jesus continually and still could not be spiritual enough to follow Jesus when life got difficult. That is why Jesus said, “I will go back to heaven and send the Holy Spirit to be in you!”
Judas betrayed Jesus and took his own life.
Jesus told Peter, “You are going to deny Me.” Peter said, I would never deny You!
In John 18:17, “The servant girl at the door said to Peter, ‘You also are not one of this man’s disciples, are you?” “He said, I am not.”
In John 18: 25-27; Peter denies Jesus two more times.” Jesus told him that He would, and Peter did what he said He would not do!
How many of us make all kinds of promises to the Lord, but we break them constantly?
What changed Peter is the same thing we need to change: the Holy Spirit! We need the Holy Spirit to empower us constantly so that we can live a Spiritual life daily!
Lord, fill me today with Your Spirit! I cannot make it without You!
“For it is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord!”
