We need the New Life to live in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said in Matthew 9:16-17, “Besides, who would patch old clothing with new cloth? For the new patch would shrink and rip away from the old cloth, leaving an even bigger tear than before. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved.”
Jesus was telling us that we need to experience new life in Christ before we have experienced the presence, provision, and power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. You cannot put the Holy Spirit into an older man (flesh, sinful) because it will not be able to contain it. You do not put new wine into old wineskins because it will not be able to hold the wine.
Today, we need to have the New Life that comes from a relationship with Jesus. When we have accepted Christ, we will begin to experience the presence of the Spirit in our daily lives.
“It is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord.” We can only do what we can do in our own strength, but we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us.
Lord, fill my life with Your Presence, Your Provision, and Your Power today!
