The older I become, the more I realize how little control I really have over my life. I realize that I do not control people, circumstances, health issues, aging issues, or world issues. However, I do control what happens in me, even if I do not control what happens to me.
In Romans 6:15-18, it clearly tells us, “Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching that we have given you. Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living.”
When it comes to our spiritual control? We choose what will control us as followers of Jesus. We can sin, we can rebel, we can live as a slave to sin or we can we choose to obey God! We are the ones who control whether we are going to sin or to please God.
How many say something like this: “The Devil made me do it.” That is true if you are not a follower of Jesus. But when you are born again, the Holy Spirit comes into your life, and He wants to be in control.
Every day of my life, I need to make a choice – “How will I control my life in this circumstance, opportunity, temptation, and situation that I will face today!
Lord, give me wisdom to see that I must give You control of my life, my thoughts, and my actions today!
