In Luke 19:41, we read these words as Jesus journeys to Jerusalem to die on the Cross. “But as He came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, He began to weep.”
What was Jesus weeping over? He was not weeping because He was going to die on the cross. He was weeping because of the condition of people who would not accept Him as the Messiah, the Savior of the world. In verse 42 – “How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace.”
His heart was broken for lost people! His heart was overwhelmed because people would not accept God’s love. I am sure that this is how God feels today when He looks at our world that has rejected the only way of salvation!
As His Bride, His Church, are we broken for lost people? Are we willing to do our part in reaching lost people? Are we weeping over the condition of our lost family and friends, city, nation, and world?
Lord, give us a burden for lost people, because “You are not willing that any should perish but that all should come to everlasting life.”
