We have been looking at how the story of David and Goliath is like our battle with the enemy spiritually. In 1 Samuel 17: 41-44, Goliath insults, intimidates, and tries to increase David’s fear, which is what the devil does in our lives.
Look at how David responds to Goliath; this is how we need to respond to the devil’s attacks. In verses 45-47, “You come to me with sword, speak and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s armies – the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. Today, the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues His people, but not with sword and spear. This is the Lord’s battle, and He will give you rest.”
- This is not our battle, but the Lord who fights for us! We must come in the Lord Jesus’s name and know He is the One that will defeat the devil. We go in the name that is above every other name.
- Today, the Lord will conquer you! By faith, we are involved in this battle! And we must defeat and destroy everything in our lives that God does not want for us.
- We must remember that victory is to give glory to God so that people will know that the Lord is the One who rescues people and that they are to give Him the glory!
Today, the battle is the Lord’s, and we do not fight for victory but for the victory of the Cross!
Lord, help me focus on the Victory You have provided for me as your child!
