We must remember that there are consequences when we make choices that disobey God and His Word. God will forgive us of our sins, but we must remember that our sins have consequences that we must deal with in our lives.

In Genesis 3:14-19, we see that the Lord God talks to satan (serpent), to the woman Eve, and then to the man. In these conversations, the Lord shows them the consequences of their choices, which everyone still deals with today.

Serpent – The Lord God told him that he would curse the serpent all of his days, crawling on his belly in the dust all of his days. And that this world will be hostile between righteousness and evil.

Eve – The consequence of her sin was that she would have pain in pregnancy and also in birth. This still happens today but returns to Eve’s choice to sin in the Garden.

Adam – Because Adam sinned, the Lord cursed the ground and that it would work just to make a living here on earth. You will struggle through life. You will work and sweat all the days of your life.

This was never God’s plan for life to be so hard, but it is a consequence of sin. We see this in our own choices will determine the consequences we will face.

Lord, help me realize that “Trust and Obey” is the best daily choice. Jesus invites us to make choices that are in alignment with His Word!

Lord, help me know, love, and obey You so I may experience Your blessing in my life!
