What is the end of the story of Samson’s compromising and giving into temptation?
Judges 16: 20-21″. “So the Philistines captured him and gouged out his eyes. They took him to Gaza, where he was bound with bronze chains and forced to grind grain in the prison.”
Samson had everything but lost it all because he gave in to temptation. There will always be consequences for the choices we make in life, good or bad. Samson disobeyed God and lost His Power.
- We see the blinding of Samson. They gouged out his eyes. He was no longer able to see physically, but he lost his spiritual sight with Delilah. The enemy wants to blind us to the consequences of our choices as well.
- We see Samson’s blinding. He was bound in chains, a prisoner, no longer free. When we give into temptation, we become bound to sin. “Jesus came to set us free, but when we disobey God, we lose our freedom.
- We see Samson grinding grain in prison. He has lost God’s purpose for him. God’s purpose is always the best for us, but we must walk in it.
But look at Judges 16:22: “But before long, his hair began to grow again.” That encourages me this morning that no matter what you have done in your life, God is the God of another chance. God is the God of the Prodigals. God will accept us when we admit, believe, and confess our sins to Him.
Lord, help me to learn from the lessons of Samson. Help me to choose to follow You!
