On this journey of following Jesus, we need to appreciate the people that God brings into our lives and be thankful for bringing us into the lives of people. This journey is better when you have others on the journey with you.
In Romans 12: 9-13, we see some great instructions for our relationships with people. “Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection and delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.”
We need to pray and then practice this in our daily lives! This is not always easy and does not mean everyone will want you, appreciate you, or is on your side. But these are some life principles that we must continually live out on the journey.
- Love people! Love your mate, your family, your friends.
- Hate what is wrong! Hate the sin, but love people!
- Hold on to the things that are good. (Dwell on the positive and not the negative.
- Honor others above yourself.
- Do not be lazy about the journey of following Jesus!
- Serve the Lord enthusiastically. (Give Jesus your best)
- Rejoice in the confident hope that you have in Jesus.
- Be patient in trouble.
- Keep praying.
- Give generously to others.
- Be hospitable.
Lord, help me to live this out in my life today!
