Amazing Grace! What a wonderful thought that God sent His One and Only Son to die on the Cross to save me from my sin!
But until we realize that we are sinners, we will never truly appreciate the price paid for our salvation. We must start at the beginning, and that means we need to realize that we are sinners! That sounds so mean, and that does not make people feel good. But we need to realize our real condition.
Romans 3: 9-12, 20 says: “Well then, should we conclude that we Jews are better than others? No, not at all, for we have already shown that all people, whether Jews or Gentiles, are under the power of sin. As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous – not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking after God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.”
“For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the Law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.”
When we read the commands of God, they prove the point that we all sin and fall short of His commands. No one keeps every command. It does not matter how many or how few we keep, but the truth is that this is why we need a Savior. I sin, He saves! I mess up, and He makes a miracle in my life. I am helpless, and He sends the Helper!
When I realize my real condition, then I will appreciate the amazing grace of God! That God sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the Cross to forgive me of my sin!
How many remember singing that wonderful song: “Amazing Grace, Oh, how sweet the sound. That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now am found. Was blind, but now I see.”
Lord, help me never take for granted Your amazing grace, mercy, and love for me. Thank you for saving me from all of my sins – past, present, and future. Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.
