Psalm 6, a David psalm, asks the Lord to forgive our sins. Salvation starts with the Lord convicting us of our sins, but then we must choose: I will ignore the conviction or confess my sin to the Lord. This is not a one-time thing; we must continually confess our sins to the Lord.
Psalm 6: 1-4, “O Lord, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage. Have compassion on me, Lord, for I am weak. Heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. I am sick at heart. How long, O Lord, until You restore me? Return, O Lord, and rescue me. Save me because of Your unfailing love.
- David is being convicted or rebuked over his sin! Living in sin and no longer being convicted of our sins is the most dangerous place. As long as you are sensing the conviction of the Lord in your life, you are being drawn by the Lord.
- David cries out for restoration in his life! To be restored means to be brought back to the right condition with the Lord. When a person is convicted of their sins, they feel weak, sick, and in agony, and that is when David cries out: “How long, O Lord until You restore me?”
- David cries out for the Lord to rescue him. Every single one of us needs the Lord to rescue us from our sins, Satan, and even from ourselves! Jesus is the Restorer and the Rescuer!
Lord, help me realize that you are My Restorer and Rescuer when I Return to You! Today, ask Jesus to be Your Restorer and Rescuer!
