In the book of Exodus, we see the Israelites’ exodus from the land of Egypt, the journey of the people of God. In Exodus 1, a new king comes to power who does not know about Joseph and the history of the people of Israel in Egypt.
The new king comes into position and sees the number of people from Israel who outnumber the Egyptians. We need to solve this problem so that the people of Israel rise and take us over.
So, they made the Israelites slaves. They appointed brutal slave drivers over them who would try to crush them, destroy them, and defeat them. The king made a law that the midwives would kill every baby boy that was being born.
But we see that God worked even in the most challenging days. Exodus 1:17 – “But because the midwives feared God, they refused to obey the king’s orders.” Exodus 1:20-21; “So God was good to the midwives, and Israelites continues to multiply, growing more and more powerful. And because the midwives feared God, He gave them families of their own.”
God used the midwives to save His people. God will always provide a way out for His people. Life will not be easy, but God is the God of breakthrough. God is the Waymaker, the Miracle Worker. And when we stand and obey God, God will provide what we need in this life.
We may look at all that is happening today and get angry or discouraged, asking where God is. God is still on the Throne, and we need to continue to trust Him, keep our faith in Him, and obey Him!
Lord, help me remember that no matter what I face today, I can trust in You!
