Lord, help me remember this in my spiritual journey; It will surely make it more joyful

How do we respond when things are not how we want them to go?

In Exodus 14, Israel’s children are on the way to the Promised Land. But the Pharaohs were angry that they let the people go, so they went after them. In verses 10-11, “As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and PANICKED when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to the Lord and said to Moses, “Why did you bring us out to die in the wilderness?” How many of us would respond the same way? Seeing things from our perspective may not make sense to us NOW. But God is working.

So, how does Moses respond to the people? In Exodus 14:13, Moses tells the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.” The Lord Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

What a great picture of how the enemy does not give up on us in our spiritual journey. And we do not see things going the way we desire, and we panic just like the children of Israel.

God’s Word tells us the very same things that Moses told the children of Israel:

  • Do not be afraid!
  • Just stand still!
  • Watch the Lord, He will rescue you!
  • The Lord Himself will fight for you!
  • Just stay calm!

Lord, help me remember this in my spiritual journey. It will surely make the journey more joyful!
