How many people today are looking to be served instead of serving? How many Christians want others to serve them, come to church, and be served, but are not willing to serve others? We are missing out on God’s purpose for our lives. He saves us to serve! He does not save us to sit and wait for others to serve us! He saves us to serve people!
How many of us feel that serving is below us? Do we feel that we deserve to be served? We are never more like Jesus than when we serve others.
In Luke 17:7-10, we read – “When a servant comes in from plowing or taking care of sheep, does his master say, ‘Come in and eat with me?’ No, he says, ‘Prepare my meal, put on your apron, and serve me while I eat. Then you can eat later,’ And does the master thank the servant for doing what he was told to do? Of course not. In the same way, when you OBEY me, you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.”
We see the attitude of a servant that realizes – “That when we are obeying God we are unworthy servants who are simply doing our duty.”
How many of us feel that serving is below us? I am looking for the title and not the towel! Lord, help me always to be willing to serve You and serve people!
