In Hebrews 12: 14-15, we see how we are to live out this journey of following Jesus.
“Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, and corrupting many.”

This is a great reminder:

  • Work at living in peace with everyone. Living peacefully with our spouse, family, friends, church, neighbors, etc, takes effort and work. This comes as we are connected to Jesus, and then we must work this out daily. Peace will not just happen because we follow Jesus, but we need to ask the Lord for wisdom, grace, and love for the people that God brings into our lives.
  • Work at living a holy life. This is a constant choice to follow Jesus and obey God’s Word. Holiness is simply working out what Jesus is working in our lives. If His presence is in our lives and we are filled with His Spirit, then we will live a holy life.
  • We need to receive the grace of God continually in our daily lives. “His grace is sufficient for all of our needs.”
  • I constantly watch out so that I do not become bitter in my life. Bitterness will trouble us, and it will corrupt others in my life. I must constantly inspect my own life to ensure I am not holding on to bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness in my heart!

Lord, help me to apply these principles to my life today!
