In Acts 13, we see Paul embarking on a missionary journey to bring the Gospel to others. That is really what every follower of Jesus is commissioned to do: bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people that we come in contact with daily.
We see that Paul was a missionary to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles. The Gospel is for every person, not just some people!
In Acts 13: 46-47; “Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared, “It was necessary that we first preach the Word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles. For the Lord gave us this command when He said, “I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.”
Because Paul brought the Gospel to the Gentiles, we are saved today. Think about the legacy of Paul, and that because of being a missionary to the Jews and the Gentiles, we are saved today. Sometimes we do not see our impact or influence immediately, or even in our lifetime. But only eternity will reveal the impact our influence had on someone that we ministered to in our lives.
Why do we “Reach the City and Touch the World for Jesus?”
Because the Gospel of Jesus is the only answer, the only hope for a world lost in sin, we have a responsibility to sow the Gospel wherever we go and leave the results to the Lord!
We never know the difference one of our outreaches here on Staten Island will make in the life of a person, family, or our city!
We never know the impact that every school we have built in the Dominican Republic will have on the lives of all those children we have helped. We never know what difference we have made in people, families, cities, and nations by building churches in Romania, the Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Mexico, and other countries.
We never know the impact that the missionaries that we support around the world have on the people who have come to Christ!
The older I get, the more I realize that we only have one shot at life, and we need to make our lives outlast us and lead as many people as we can to Jesus Christ!
Lord, help me to be a missionary today!
