If we are followers of Jesus, this is a full-time lifestyle. This is not something we only do when it is Sunday or when we need God to do something for us. We need to follow Jesus completely and with a total commitment to Him.
Paul wrote to Timothy and told him that if you are going to be a follower of Jesus and to lead other people. It is more about how you walk and not just how you talk.
1 Timothy 4: 15-16 tells us: “Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress. Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.”
If we are going to take the journey of following Jesus, we need to know the expectations of what God expects of us.
- To follow Jesus – we need to be all in and throw ourselves into the tasks and ministries God has called us to. Am I all in when it comes to doing what God has called me to do for Him?
- To follow Jesus – means that we lead and show people our progress in our spiritual lives. Are we progressing or regressing? If we are moving forward and growing spiritually, it will be evident to those we are leading. Can our families see us growing in our spiritual walk?
- To follow Jesus – means that I keep a close watch on how I live. Watching other people’s lives is very easy, but my responsibility is my own spiritual life. I must leave other people to the Lord, but am I watching my life closely?
- To follow Jesus – means to do what is right according to God’s Word! For my sake and for the others that are watching our lives. We are the only Jesus that people are going to see, and we need to be all in and follow Jesus.
Lord, help me to be all in and follow You wherever You lead me!
