Lord, help me to deal with my anger and not give the devil a foothold in my life

We live in a culture that is filled with anger. Every day, we see anger manifested in many ways in our families, schools, children, youth, college campuses, workplaces, and churches. Anger is only one letter away from danger. Anger is dangerous to this generation.

Paul writes to the Church in Ephesus (and today) these words about anger: “And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.”

Paul gives us great advice about dealing with our anger. Anger is an emotion we all will have to deal with. But what are we going to do with the anger? Many people hold their anger in; they stuff it and never learn to deal with their anger. And just like a soda bottle, if you shake it up long enough, it will explode.

Today, we live in a culture where people are exploding everywhere and in dangerous ways. We must learn to deal with the anger in it and not stuff it, but learn to talk about it and deal with it.

How can we deal with it?

• Admit that you are angry. We all get angry and do not deny it but admit to it and confess it.
• Pray about your feelings of anger. Ask the Lord for wisdom on how to deal with the anger. Get into the Word of God and allow God’s Word to speak to you!
• Talk about your anger with the person in a personal conversation and not on social media. Deal with your anger quickly so that it does not fester.
• Talk with a Christian counselor if the anger has been in you and you cannot deal with it!
• Then, begin making the changes that you need to make, and you cannot change the other person. Pray for them and allow the Lord to deal with them.

Lord, help me to deal with my anger and not give the devil a foothold in my life today!
