Jesus tells His followers about the choice that every person must make when it comes to following Jesus. Jesus does not call us to be Christians, religious people, but He calls us to follow Jesus. This is a daily choice that we must make if we really want to be a follower of Jesus.
Matthew 16: 24-26; “If any of you wants to be My Follower, you MUST give up your own way, take up your cross and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your own soul?
What a question: Is anything worth more than your own soul? Or the soul of your family? What priority do we give to our soul? We can spend all of our lives earning money, purchasing property, achieving success, focusing on pleasure, but what are we doing for our souls? What are we doing for Heaven’s sake?
Are we gaining this world, but losing our souls? Lord, help me to focus on my soul, and to make my soul a priority in my daily decisions! Because when it comes down to it? “Is anything worth more than my soul????
