Lord, help me to focus on You and to what will last for eternity

On the journey of life and of following Jesus, we need to have a long-term perspective, not a short-term one! We live in a culture of wanting immediate results, rewards, and riches. We want comfort instead of being like Christ.

Paul wrote about this long-term perspective in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18: open your Bible, read it, and allow it to minister to you.

“That is why we never GIVE UP! Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present TROUBLES are small and won’t last very long. Yet they PRODUCE for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So, we don’t LOOK AT THE TROUBLES we can see now; rather we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever!”

Lord, help me to look towards You and stop focusing on the immediate things, trials, and troubles we are going through today! Help me focus on eternity and what will last for eternity.
