Elijah was a man of faith in the one true God. We see his faith in the challenge he gave to the people of Israel and the 450 prophets of Baal. We read about the challenge in 1 Kings 18: 22-24.
Give a bull to each of us, they will kill their bull and prepare it and put in on the altar. I will prepare my bull and place it on my altar. We will put no fire on the altar. They will pray to their god, and I will pray to the name of the Lord, and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” And the people agreed.
What a challenge Elijah presented. How many of us know our God so well that we are willing to engage with the culture of our day?
Too many Christians are intimidated by the world, a culture that is anti-Christ and anti-Bible, and we hide from the culture.
Elijah had faith in His God, and as followers of Jesus, we need to know Him, have faith in Him, and obey Him in every area of life.
We cannot just be Christians in church; we need to be like Christ in our culture. We must be the salt of the earth and the light of the world!
Lord, help me to have the faith of Elijah, to believe that nothing is impossible for Him!
Today, will you join me in praying for the hurricane headed toward Florida and that you will protect all those in that area of Florida?
