“The Lord is my Shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green pastures; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along the right paths, bringing honor to His name.” Psalm 23: 1-3

I am thankful for the times that the Lord allows us to sit in the green pastures and regroup, refresh, relax, and become renewed. But in verse 3, we see that the Lord does not allow us to stay there. He will get us moving again. How many Christians have stopped moving forward? We like the green pastures and never want to leave the resting place.

Life is filled with seasons, and we need to keep moving forward.

  • The Shepherd allows us to rest in green pastures and be strengthened. “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength….” But when we are strengthened, God wants us to return on the journey of following Jesus.
  • The Shepherd guides the sheep with his voice. He is out front leading, and with his voice, the sheep follow Him. He leads us on the right, holy, and righteous paths we must walk on because we follow the Shepherd.
  • The Shepherd leads us on the Right Path, the straight path that is not the path of this world or culture. It is a path of holiness, obedience, sacrifice, and discipline. Many stop following the Good Shepherd here.

We want a God that allows us to rest in the green pastures, but too many give up when the Shepherd strengthens us and gets us following Him on the path that will bring honor to His Name!

Today, is it time to get up and start following the Shepherd on the right path of life? Lord, help me to know Your voice and to follow wherever You lead me!
